Lingual braces

A fixed brace in its most discreet form

What if we told you that you could have all the benefits of a fixed brace, whilst it is practically invisible to those around you? It’s no secret that fixed braces give the most predictable and accurate results of any orthodontic appliance. However, many patients are now looking for a way to straighten their teeth in a more subtle way, without the need for intrusive and obvious braces.

Lingual braces at Clarendon Dental could be the ideal solution!

Lingual Braces

What are lingual braces?

Lingual braces work in the same way as a traditional fixed brace, but are fitted to the inside surface of your teeth, next to your tongue, so they are hidden from view. They are incredibly subtle and virtually invisible, with no one able to see them when you talk or smile. Lingual braces are much less obvious than metal braces, and a more comfortable way to straighten your teeth.

At Clarendon Dental, we use WIN Lingual Systems, a company based in Germany, to ensure the best possible results.

What are the benefits of lingual braces?

  • Predictable
  • Discreet
  • Suitable for all ages
  • Ideal for simple to complex cases
  • Made specifically for you

What does the treatment involve?

In your initial consultation, your teeth will be scanned using our digital iTero scanner. This scan is then sent directly to the WIN Lingual Labs where the experienced technicians will craft a bespoke brace especially for you. This means that the brackets will fit your teeth perfectly, allowing for maximum comfort and movement during your treatment.

Your brace is most often fitted in two appointments, as the upper and lower arches are fitted separately. This allows a smooth and comfortable introduction to the brace and how to take care of it. As with all types of fixed braces, your oral hygiene is extremely important. We make sure you know how best to keep your braces clean and plaque-free.

At the end of your treatment, we make sure you are delighted with your beautiful new straight smile before removing your brace. We give you custom-made retainers to ensure your teeth stay in their new positions and leave you to enjoy your new smile!

FAQs

The length of lingual brace treatment varies depending on each individual case, and how far your teeth need to move. We will give you an idea of the timescales for your treatment at your first appointment, but most cases take 12-18 months.

It can take some time for you to adapt to your new lingual braces, and your speech may be different at first, but this will fade as you get used to the feeling of them in your mouth.

No, as lingual braces are hidden from view on the back of the teeth, they will not visibly mark your teeth but you do need to make sure you are brushing effectively. When your treatment has finished, we carefully remove your braces, leaving no lasting effects on your enamel.
